The White House Press Secretary has claimed that highlighting concerns about boys participating in girls’ sports is “a dangerous thing to say”.
During a press briefing, Karine Jean-Pierre was asked if the Government was concerned about the “physical safety of females directly competing against males in sports”.
The question was raised in light of a Department of Education proposal, which would force schools to admit gender-confused boys to female sports teams.
Protections
The Press Secretary called it a “complicated issue” before branding the reporter “irresponsible” when he put forward a scenario where he suggested parents may “worry about their daughter’s safety”.
Jean-Pierre claimed: “You’re laying out a broad example or explanation of what could potentially happen, a broad example or explanation, that is dangerous. That is a dangerous thing to say, that essentially transgender kids, we’re talking about, are dangerous. And so that’s something I have to call out, that is irresponsible.”
But in Missouri, state Governor Mike Parson has signed into law SB 39, which protects schools from admitting gender-confused pupils to the opposite sex’s athletic competitions.
The law emphasises that students who are “deprived of an athletic opportunity as a result of a violation of this section” can seek legal remedy.
Angling
In June, half of England’s ladies’ angling team quit following the inclusion of a man into their squad.
Three members have withdrawn from the Home Nations shore fishing championship later this month after it was announced that a man who lives as a woman was selected.
Angling Trust, the sport’s governing body, claimed that Becky Lee Birtwhistle Hodges would not enjoy an advantage.
