Scottish school allows boy to ‘identify as a wolf’, citing Govt guidance

Teachers at a Scottish secondary school are encouraging a boy in his belief that he is a wolf, according to reports.

The local council claims that the pupil has “species dysphoria”, and stated that he is being supported in line with the Scottish Government’s Getting It Right For Every Child (GIRFEC) guidance .

The guidance includes a ‘wellbeing wheel’, which highlights the need of assisting children to “overcome inequalities” and to make sure their opinions are heard in “decisions that affect their life”.

Named person

GIRFEC was a central plank of the Scottish Government’s intrusive and controversial Named Person scheme.

This was finally scrapped in 2019, more than three years after legal action led by The Christian Institute resulted in a historic ruling from the UK Supreme Court that key elements of the scheme were unlawful.

Under the original plans, every child in Scotland was to be assigned a “named person” – an employee of the state to oversee their ‘wellbeing’ or ‘happiness’. Hundreds of taxi drivers in Scotland were told that GIRFEC required them to ‘spy’ on child passengers and report conversations to their Named Person.

‘Common-sense’

Clinical neuropsychologist Tommy MacKay told the Daily Mail: “There is no such condition in science as ‘species dysphoria’. It’s not surprising that we are seeing this in an age when many people want to identify as something other than they are.

“Now we have a council which appears to accept at face value that a child identifies as a wolf, rather than being told to snap out of it and get to grips with themselves, which would be the common-sense approach.”

According to The Daily Telegraph, children in schools in England and Wales have previously identified as a dinosaur, a horse, and a moon.

‘Cat identity’

Last year, a teacher came under fire for telling a 13-year-old girl to move schools after she challenged the notion that her classmate could identify as a cat.

Following a Year 8 lesson on “life education” at Rye College, two friends secretly recorded the reprimand they received for upholding the reality of biological sex during class.

After asking why their view couldn’t be respected, the teacher can be heard calling it “really despicable”, responsible for “homophobia”, and saying if they don’t agree they “need to go to a different school”.

At the time, Sir Keir Starmer’s official spokesman stated: “It’s clearly ridiculous if you’re in a situation where children are not being recognised as children. I think it’s fairly obvious what the right approach should be in this case.”
