Satanists enact ‘religious trans-affirming ritual’ in Idaho

Satanists in Idaho have performed a “gender affirmation ritual” in an apparent attempt to deny the reality of biological sex, as a Bill to safeguard children from irreversible procedures progresses in the US state.

‘Satanic Idaho’ held the event at the State Capitol Building just days after the ‘Vulnerable Child Protection Act’ passed the state’s House of Representatives by a clear margin of 58 votes to 12.

If the Bill becomes law, medics who give children puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones or ‘sex swap’ surgeries for the purpose of affirming gender-confusion could face up to ten years in prison.

Binary

Speaking at the event, Rowan Astra instructed attendees to write the names and pronouns associated with their biological sex on a pieces of paper, which were then torn up and submerged in water.

She claimed: “Let us embrace the impulse to eat of the tree of knowledge, to imbibe in the knowledge of our true identities, to dissolve delusions of binaries”, saying “many will see this as a blasphemy, blasphemy should be seen as a re-examination of the supposed sacred, we fall outside of prescribed binaries and delusions of old”.

Astra stated that “bodily autonomy” is “a deeply held religious belief”.

Roe v Wade

Earlier this year, another group of satanists claimed to be exempt from pro-life laws in the US because the protections interfered with their “religious abortion ritual”.

In a sympathetic interview with Guardian journalist Adam Gabbatt, the co-founder of ‘The Satanic Temple’, Lucien Greaves, attempted to justify its legal action against abortion laws in Texas, Indiana, Idaho, and Missouri.

The US Supreme Court overturned its 1973 ruling on Roe v Wade in June last year, which returned power to individual states to legislate on the issue. Greaves claimed that as a “minority religion”, the Temple’s members are now prevented from practicing its beliefs.
