Pro-life MP receives ‘ridiculous’ criticism from the abortion lobby

A pro-life MP has been attacked by one of Britain’s largest abortion organisations, after being appointed to a new role representing women.

Maria Caulfield, who was promoted to be the Conservative’s Vice-Chair for Women, has previously spoken out against abortion on demand and shared her aim to be a “voice for the unborn child.”

But Caulfield’s appointment – part of Theresa May’s shake up of her Government – was attacked by the British Pregnancy Advisory Service (BPAS).

‘Sad day’

It’s a sad day in this country if you can’t have a different view to someone.

BPAS accused her of holding views on abortion that were “out of step with members of the public and her own parliamentary party”.

In an article for the i newspaper, Caulfield defended her views: “It’s a sad day in this country if you can’t have a different view to someone.

“To say that someone who has a different view cannot represent women is absolutely ridiculous.”

Fellow Conservative MP Nadine Dorries tweeted her support for Caulfield.

Dorries said her party colleague was being attacked for having a “different point of view” on the issue of abortion.
