Hundreds of women have sought help to have their babies adopted rather than aborted, after a picture of a married couple holding up signs with a compassionate pro-life message was circulated on the internet.
Kevin Cook, a theology student at a seminary in the US state of Kentucky, was deeply affected by a recent video from the Center for Medical Progress (CMP), which exposed the disturbing practices in Planned Parenthood abortion clinics.
In the video, a Planned Parenthood worker is seen sifting through body parts from an aborted baby to select pieces which can be sold.
Life matters
Responding to the video on his blog, Kevin said his heart was ‘completely shattered’ and he offered to adopt any child from a mother who is considering abortion. He wrote: “It’s not a fetus. It’s a blessing. Life matters.”
According to Lifesite, a few months later he decided to go down to a local abortion clinic with his wife Nicole and hold up two signs which read: “God loves you and your baby” and “Please don’t abort… We will adopt your baby. Come talk to us.”
Our prayer is to completely overwhelm adoption agencies nationwide with an influx of birth mothers who have seen our message and have chosen life!

After posting a picture of themselves with the signs on Facebook, the couple were inundated with messages and their post was shared thousands of times.
Choose life
In a subsequent blog, Kevin disclosed that: “Women continue to message us and we are looking at each one as an opportunity to save a life, either through personally adopting their child or through connecting them with an adoption agency locally.”
He added that hundreds of women have got in touch to say they would prefer to give up their baby for adoption, rather than have an abortion, but are unsure of how to do so.
The couple plan to put together a resource of national and regional adoption agencies, in order to make it easier for women to choose adoption.
Kevin’s blog post concluded: “Our prayer is to completely overwhelm adoption agencies nationwide with an influx of birth mothers who have seen our message and have chosen life!”
Government investigation
Planned Parenthood is the subject of an investigation by the US Congress after a string of undercover videos were released by CMP in recent months.
The first secret video showed a senior Planned Parenthood doctor talking casually over lunch about the price of babies’ vital organs.
The House of Representatives backed a measure to strip Planned Parenthood of federal money by 241-185 but despite this, and the controversy over the videos, the Senate is not expected to approve the decision.
