A former Planned Parenthood worker has been awarded £3 million after being sacked for reporting illegal and unsafe practice at abortion facilities.
The abortion giant sacked Mayra Rodriguez after she blew the whistle on illegal activities, including failing to report the rape of a minor, the falsification of patient records, and botched abortions which left women at risk of death.
Rodriguez is now involved with the pro-life group And Then There Were None, which encourages abortionists to leave the industry.
Safety risks
In 2017, Rodriguez was sacked after complaining about practices in the Planned Parenthood clinics where she worked.
Her lawsuit stated that she was concerned about “the substantial health, welfare, and safety risks” to the women who came through the doors of Planned Parenthood.
Abby Johnson, who founded And Then There Were None, was a former Planned Parenthood Director who left after assisting in a 13-week abortion. She said: “When Mayra came to And Then There Were None with her incredible story, I felt solidarity with her”.
“Standing with her through the trial and rejoicing in the ultimate victory has been amazing”, she added.
Focused on abortion
Last month, it was revealed that Planned Parenthood sacked its president after she attempted to prioritise activities other than abortion.
Although Dr Leana Wen said she wanted to “normalize abortion” and that it was part of her company’s “core mission”, the Board fired her after holding a “secret meeting” in July.
Critics said the sacking was evidence that the organisation is focused on abortion rather than health care.
