Outrage as toddler suspended for ‘transphobia or homophobia’

A toddler has been suspended from nursery for being transphobic or homophobic, Government statistics have revealed.

Department for Education data shows that in 2022-23, a child of three or four years old was suspended for “abuse against sexual orientation and gender identity”.

Further details of the case and school were not disclosed, but according to the statistics another 93 pupils at state primary schools across England were suspended or excluded for the same reason that academic year. This included ten children from Year One (five and six-year-olds).

‘Insanity’

A spokesman for the Prime Minister commented on the case, saying: “Obviously, the Prime Minister would not support those sorts of measures.”

He added: “Pupils and staff should never be subject to abuse, but any action taken to tackle behaviour should also be proportionate.”

JK Rowling posted on X: “This is totalitarian insanity. If you think small children should be punished for being able to recognise sex, you are a dangerous zealot who should be nowhere near kids or in any position of authority over them.”

‘Too crazy to believe’

Helen Joyce, Director of Advocacy for women’s group Sex Matters, added: “Every once in a while, the extremes of gender ideology throw up a story that seems too crazy to believe, and a toddler being suspended from nursery for so-called ‘transphobia’ or homophobia is one such example.”

She continued: “Teachers and school leaders involved in this insanity should be ashamed of themselves for projecting adult concepts and beliefs onto such young children.

“It’s unforgivable for children’s vital early education to be so traumatically disrupted by school leaders who prioritise activists’ demands over their charges’ wellbeing.”
