A school in New Jersey has been forced to remove books from its summer reading list because of their explicit homosexual content.
The books were on a required reading list for middle school and high school students.
The school district has apologised to parents after requiring students to read the books that include graphic depictions of lesbian sex and a homosexual orgy.
Controversy
Chuck Earling, Superintendent of Monroe Township Schools in Williamstown, NJ said: “We were not trying to create controversy. We were just trying to get students to read.
Peter Sprigg, from the Family Research Council, told Fox News Radio: “Here we see the intersection of parental values being offended, the hyper-sexualisation of our youth and the homosexual agenda being pushed.
Explicit
“There is this tolerance of sexually explicit material that is very troubling and should be very troubling for parents,” he noted.
The reading list was prepared by a committee made up of teachers, librarians and school administrators. The board of education approved of the list.

Earlier this year The Christian Institute released a report highlighting the shocking resources being pushed by public bodies for use in English schools.
One such resource encourages primary school pupils to learn about anal intercourse, oral sex and prostitution.
In March Conservative MP Andrea Leadsom called for sex education resources to be licencsed to ensure they are age-appropriate.
