Late-term abortion survivor reunited with her mother

An abortion survivor in the US has described her reunion with her mother who believed she was dead.

In 1977 Melissa’s mother was pressured into an abortion by her own mother who was friends with a local abortionist.

But five days after the toxic injection, Melissa was born alive.

Reunited

When she turned 14, her adoptive parents told her the story of her birth, and she began to search for her biological mother.

She shared: “When I finally found my biological mother, I learned that she was told I had died that day at the hospital. She had no idea I was born alive.”

Describing the reunion, she said: “Our family was ripped apart by abortion and right there, God restored and redeemed so many broken pieces.”

Speaking out

Now Melissa is a pro-life campaigner and says: “Abortion is destroying our families, but it doesn’t have to be that way.”

Along with Melissa’s story, Students for Life has also shared about Hope, who lives with a permanent disability from the attempt to abort her.

She said: “I want people to see the living proof that abortion hurts. It hurt my mom emotionally, and it hurt me physically, but we don’t have to keep settling for it.”
