Govt in dialogue with churches about resuming services

Communities Secretary Robert Jenrick has said the Government is in dialogue with church leaders about resuming worship services.

He said that while the Government is committed to resuming services “when the time is right”, he added “that moment is not now”.

The announcement comes as Church of England bishops recommend a ‘phased approach’ to reopening churches.

Consider

Robert Jenrick was speaking in response to a question from a member of the public, who asked why sporting events have been prioritised over religious services.

The Minister responded: “We are in conversation with faith leaders across the country to consider how, when the time is right, they will be able to recommence services in churches”.

However, he added “that moment is not now”.
