A columnist for The Times has raised concerns about the promotion of the transsexual agenda, warning against aggressive campaign tactics used by activists.
Janice Turner said she receives “angry chants of ‘trans women are women’” when she writes about gender politics.
However, she maintains that, “a feeling of ‘gender identity’ does not erase biological reality”.
‘Henceforth female’
Turner has criticised the pro-transsexual push in the past and previously noted that “the craze to expedite gender transition in children goes against all clinical advice for ‘watchful waiting’”.
In her column on Saturday, she said she believes that males who say they are females should be addressed by their preferred pronouns.
But Turner added that she does not think a man who identifies as a woman has a body which is “henceforth female”.
‘Aggression of activists’
Last year, Turner witnessed a shocking attack on a 60-year-old woman by pro-transsexual activists in Hyde Park.
Maria MacLachlan was punched and kicked as she met with others to discuss Government plans to allow people to legally self-identify their gender.
The columnist said, “the tragic thing is that the vast majority of trans women, including many who have written to me, are aghast by the aggression of activists”, adding that they are “mindful of women’s privacy”.
‘Trans women are men’
Commenting on the recent decision by the Labour party to suspend two ‘transphobic’ members, Turner said it was time for Jeremy Corbyn to “decide if he’ll sacrifice allies who aren’t prepared to see women’s safety compromised for the sake of dogma”.
Party member Jennifer James opposed a Labour policy of allowing men who say they are women to apply for women’s only positions within the party.
James received a letter notifying her of her suspension, explaining that until an investigation was over, she will be unable to attend any Party meetings, including the annual conference, and cannot stand for election at any level.
Another woman, Venice Allan, was suspended for reasons including posting a photo which read: “Trans women are men”. Responding to her suspension, Allan tweeted: “If stating that males are men means that Labour don’t want me, quite frankly I hope they chuck me out”.
