Detransitioner: ‘I feel like I killed a child, and it was me’

A US detransitioner has warned of the devastating effects of ‘gender-affirming care’.

In an opinion piece for Fox News, Prisha Mosley detailed how trans drugs and sex-swap surgery robbed her of her childhood and caused irreversible damage to her body.

In March, leaked files from the US-based World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) showed pro-trans medics admitting that some clients are too young to understand the irreversible nature of certain interventions.

Victim

Prisha said: “I was born female and grew up in North Carolina. I discovered the transgender community online as a teenager and was persuaded to socially transition. I was only 17 when doctors started injecting me with testosterone.

“In retrospect, I was the perfect victim. I was young, impressionable, isolated and suffering from severe mental health issues, including anorexia, self-harm and attempts to end my life.”

Having found help and matured into adulthood, I identify as a woman, but the damage is done.

Although her parents were against medical intervention, Prisha believes they were “pressured” to allow it to go ahead by medics, who claimed she would be at risk of suicide otherwise.

Surgery was discussed at her first consultation; a double mastectomy was carried out the following year.

‘Medical culture’

Despite medical transition being promised as a cure to her mental health problems, Prisha found nothing changed until the “real sources” of her suffering were addressed: anorexia, Borderline Personality Disorder, and the repercussions of a sexual assault.

She continued: “Having found help and matured into adulthood, I identify as a woman, but the damage is done. Testosterone has left my back, neck and shoulders on fire most days.

I feel like I killed a child, and it was me.

“My joints ache. My genitals are atrophied and painful. I will live a whole life never knowing how it feels to breastfeed a child. My liver is enlarged. It’s likely that I’m at increased risk for a heart attack and stroke. My voice is permanently changed.

“WPATH created a medical culture that tries to convince the most vulnerable among us that mutilation can be health care, and I fell for it. I feel like I killed a child, and it was me.”

Terminal cancer

Earlier this year, shocking admissions of the harmful effects of ‘trans-affirming care’ emerged in leaked files from WPATH.

In content seen by US journalist Michael Shellenberger, one medic wrote about a friend who, after about eight to ten years of testosterone, developed a form of liver cancer.

“To the best of my knowledge”, the medic said, “it was linked to his hormone treatment… it was so advanced that he opted for palliative care and died a couple of months later”.

Another indicated their readiness to carry out a double mastectomy for a 16-year-old, despite the fact she had liver cancer. The doctor noted: “The oncologist and surgeon both have indicated that the likely offending agent(s) are the hormones.”

Uninformed

A hormone specialist, in material from a talk in 2022, said: “It’s always a good theory that you talk about fertility preservation with a 14-year-old, but I know I’m talking to a blank wall.

“Most of the kids are nowhere in any kind of a brain space to really talk about it in a serious way.”

Among other revelations, a psychologist admits that it is out of the “developmental range” of a child to understand “the extent to which some of these medical interventions are impacting them”.

Shellenberger said the WPATH files “show that what is called ‘gender medicine’ is neither science nor medicine”.
