US guidance that suggests biological men can take drugs to enable them to ‘breastfeed’ risks harming babies, a newspaper columnist has warned.
Writing for the MailOnline, Meghan McCain said US Government advice that appeared to endorse men “chestfeeding” with the aid of medication amounted to scientific experimentation on fragile lives.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) website states that a trans person does “not need to have given birth to breastfeed or chestfeed”, it also encourages “transgender parents” to take medication “to induce lactation”.
Transgender ideology
McCain said: “the truly dangerous part of all of this is that the CDC failed to disclose one vitally important disclaimer: ‘chestfeeding’ is potentially hazardous to babies”.
She explained: “’Chestfeeding’ by men is made possible by medication that induces lactation. And that medicine, domperidone, has been linked to heart problems in babies.”
The columnist lamented: “Postpartum health is no longer about the wellness of mother and baby. It’s now about the feelings of biological men!
“Why else would America’s supposedly ‘science-based, data-driven’ premier public health institution promote something that could poison infants in the critical first few days of their lives?”
Agenda
Other critics include US Senator Dr Roger Marshall, an obstetrician who has delivered thousands of babies, who accused the CDC of putting “its social agenda ahead of science and the health of newborns”.
He also said: “A biological male filled with hormones and a concoction of other drugs that could harm a baby should never try to naturally feed a newborn.”
As a physician who has delivered over 5,000 babies and encouraged every mom to breastfeed, it is evident the CDC has placed politics and its social agenda ahead of science and the health of newborns.https://t.co/tWo5JAIncb

And Dr Jane Orient, executive director of the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons, said: “The CDC has a responsibility to talk about the health risks, but they have been derelict in doing that.”
