Education Secretary Damian Hinds has praised church schools and youth groups, saying they ‘do great work’.
At a Church of England education conference last week, he highlighted their contribution to communities through charitable and voluntary work.
He also acknowledged that church schools do well at fulfilling their “duty to promote spiritual, moral, social and cultural development”.
Character and confidence
In his speech, Hinds was full of praise for the quality of education provided by church schools.
And he spoke warmly of the impact of church youth clubs in building character and confidence among young people from every background.
“Church youth groups and other youth groups do do great work in this area”, he said, “I pay tribute to what they do and I absolutely encourage them to keep on and do more”.
