An Australian wedding magazine run by Christians has been forced to close because it wouldn’t feature same-sex couples.
Luke and Carla Burrell, who started White Magazine twelve years ago, said the publication had been targeted by homosexual activists following Australia’s decision to redefine marriage in December.
Their advertisers began to pull out, and the couple said the magazine was no longer “economically viable” as a result.
‘We are Christian’
In a blog post explaining the closure, the couple wrote: “White Magazine has always been a secular publication, but as its publishers, we are Christian. We have no agenda but to love.”
“To us, our faith is anchored in love without judgement”.
In return, the couple received a “flood of judgement” for their stance.
Online attacks
Their explanation brought a fresh wave of online abuse, with one commenter saying: “You’re obviously not only terrible business people but also just terrible people.”
However, others offered the Burrells “100 per cent” support.
One said: “These hateful bullies who think they can force people into accepting & believing the same things that they do is wrong.”
Another encouraged the couple to believe that God could bring about good, praying: “May God lead and bless you onto your next journey.”
