Backlash for ferry company that backed trans activist’s attack on free speech

A ferry company has been slammed for turning on one of its senior employees after transsexual TV presenter India Willoughby attacked him on Twitter for upholding the reality of biological sex.

Willoughby, a man who lives as a woman, accused Kevin Clark of being “transphobic” in a tweet to Gosport Ferry, after the ferry captain called him “A man”.

The Hampshire company responded by saying it would be “dealing with this matter and the individual as a priority”, a move blasted by other users as “authoritarian”.

Bullies

Speaking to Portsmouth’s The News, Gosport Ferry’s general manager, Clive Lane, said: “If we need diversity training following the investigation then that is what we will do.” But others defended Clark’s right to uphold the reality of biological sex.

One said: “This shouldn’t need saying, but your staff have the legally protected right to express a belief in biology in their spare time. Why are you more loyal to someone who may never have used your service than you are to the bloke driving the ship?”

Another added: “@GosportFerry reveals it is against their ‘Company Values’ to think that women are a sex.

“Women are not a ‘gender role’, no matter what India Willoughby and pals think. We are half the population and we are entitled to a name for our sex.”

Margaret Atwood

Last year, author Margaret Atwood was branded ‘transphobic’ by trans activists for sharing an article which warned that gender-neutral language is leading to the “erasure of women”.

The well-known author has previously claimed that there are more than two genders, but this did not make her immune from backlash.
