Producing extreme online pornography is just like creating popular art, TV or literature, a senior executive at a major porn website has claimed.
Corey Price, vice-president at the pornography website, said the company’s work to “create original and creative content” is like “any creative industry”.
He was speaking to The Sunday Times as it revealed that children are suffering the effects of a “porn-saturated” world.
Explicit images
Sunday Times reporter Gabriel Pogrund was told of boys copying porn actors and engaging in sexual acts that made girls feel violated.
He also heard how explicit images were passed around school with impunity and that some men had not “learnt to differentiate between real life and porn”.
Pogrund claimed porn was a “fundamental aspect” of how millennials –18 to 34 year-olds – “express and experience sexuality”.
Simply business
Discussing one of the world’s most popular porn websites, Pogrund said it has more visitors than the BBC, CNN and amazon.co.uk combined.
Many of those viewers are millennials, who reportedly watched 55 billion pornographic videos in 2016.
But when questioned on the issue of extreme content, Price said it was simply a business decision.
‘Just data’
“It’s the same with any creative industry. If you want to stand out and really attract people’s attention, you have to create original and creative content that people want”, Price said.
He added: “This is what people are doing, we’ll leave others to speculate as to why. We’re just data and data science and algorithms. Our goal is to deliver the best video to the person.”
Last year, a Christian wrote candidly about his struggle with pornography, and how God freed him from the grip of sexual sin.
Helpless
Tabor Laughlin said that his addiction to pornography led to “impure relationships with girls” and he failed repeatedly in his fight against temptation. “I felt trapped. I felt helpless”.
But eleven years ago, the Lord intervened to change his life.
At a prayer meeting, “I knelt on the ground and confessed aloud in great detail my past and present sexual sins both to God and the other guys there”.
Thankful to God
They prayed “for God to completely cleanse me of those sins”.
Laughlin said he is “incredibly thankful to God for his mercy” and that his experience reminds him of how he should ‘honestly and humbly confess his sins before God and others’.
