Men dressed as women are reading children’s books and singing songs in nurseries as LGBT activists target toddlers.
Inspired by a similar organisation in the US, Drag Queen Story Time has been allowed to hold events at seven nursery schools.
If the events are deemed ‘successful’, they will be rolled out across all 37 nurseries in the London Early Years Foundation (LEYF).
Impressionable
Critics have lambasted the performances, with Norman Wells, Director of the Family Education Trust, saying they could “blind impressionable children of two and three to one of the most basic facts of human existence”.
He also said it was “disturbing” that LGBT activists attempt “to distort our perception of reality” by denying the fundamental truth of the distinctions between male and female.
He added: “We are already seeing a substantial rise in the number of children who identify as transgender, largely due to the sympathetic and positive treatment of the issue on children’s TV.
“Such confusion is only likely to increase if we start playing with children’s minds in nurseries and schools.”
‘Misguided’
Leading child psychotherapist Dilys Daws said: “There’s this idea that’s sweeping the country that being transgender is an ‘ordinary situation’.
“It’s getting so much publicity that it’s getting children thinking that they might be transgender, when it otherwise wouldn’t have occurred to them.”
And a gender dysphoria professor, Ashley Grossman, said: “Only a tiny proportion of children develop dysphoria, this seems a little misguided.
“I’m sure it’s with the best intentions but it could have the reverse impact.”
Trans teddy bear
Jane O’Sullivan, Chief Executive of LEYF, said Drag Queen Story Time allowed children to “see people who defy rigid gender restrictions”.
Speaking to BBC London radio, she added that it was good to expose very young children to LGBT issues “because children are very open until about three”.
“it’s getting children thinking that they might be transgender, when it otherwise wouldn’t have occurred to them.”
One of the songs is a variation on ‘The Wheels on the Bus’, which includes the line: “The skirt on the drag queen goes swish, swish, swish.”
The drag queens also have a library of LGBT books including “Introducing Teddy”, where the teddy bear realises it is a girl teddy, not a boy teddy, and is worried its owner will not like it any more.
Dangerous
When the initiative was first announced, Ciarán Kelly, Deputy Director for Staff and Communications at The Christian Institute, said the initiative could harm young children.
“Children are becoming increasingly confused by teaching that constantly bombards them with the notion that they can change gender.
“This has nothing to do with helping children but everything to do with using them as a propaganda tool to further the radical agenda of those who wish to do away with the precious distinctions between men and women.”
